Course Overview
This programme will give a broad overview of all film and TV production departments, their workflows and how they interact. It aims to equip new entrants to the sector with the knowledge and essential skills required for working on set, team collaboration, key production computing skills and programming systems.
In response to industry feedback internationally and nationally the programme aims to offer prospective students the essential communication skills such as problem-solving, adaptive thinking, creative collaboration and emotional intelligence. Other important elements of the programme include Health and Safety, set etiquette, script breakdown and self-management in the industry. Upon completion this programme will form the basis of the new entrants journey to working in the audio visual industry.
Limerick School of Art & Design has developed this programme in partnership with Screen Skills Ireland and Film in Limerick ensuring it is at the forefront of industry needs.
The government is looking to double the number of jobs in the sector to over 24,000 (audio visual action plan, Creative Ireland Pillar 4). Creative digital projects built with rapidly changing technologies have created a large skills gap in the talent pipeline that underpins this expansion. This is creating a lot of demand for technically skilled artists designers and IT graduates in TV and feature film both nationally and within the mid west region where 100s of jobs have been created at Troy Studios, Castletroy, Limerick. This is an established and popular programme aimed at recent graduates and those looking to upskill who are also working in the screen production, film, tv, animation sector. It has been sucessfully offered in 2020, 2021, and 2022 and will run again in 2023.

Successful applicants in employment qualify for 90% Springboard+ Funding and will be liable for the balance of 10% fee of €300. Successful applicants on a qualifying DSP payment qualify for 100% funding. Springboard+ is co-funded by tge Government of Ireland and the European Social Fund as part of the ESF programme for employability, inclusion and learning 2014-2021. 3. Proof of nationality ie. passport
4. Proof of PPS/employment/social welfare/returner status dated within the last month (see below)
5. Proof of Residency – 2019, 2020, 2021
Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) / Special Case Registrations: Prospective participants who do not meet the entry requirements for the programme detailed above, but who may qualify for admission by meeting certain other equivalent criteria, should notify the Flexible Learning Office and request consideration under RPL. Please submit your application online and then email all your supporting documents to Springboard.midwest.@tus.ie
ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Applicants who do not have English as their first language must ensure they satisfy English Language requirements. For entry to undergraduate courses, a minimum score of 5.5 in an IELTS exam is required. For postgraduate courses, a minimum of 6.0 is required. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their English proficiency meets these requirements.

Semester One & Two timetable:
Monday 7pm-9pm
Thursday 7pm-9pm
Wednesday 7-9pm1 week (minimum) Work Placement which can be completed up to May 2024.

Each 5 credits will normally equate to approximately 100 Total Learning Hours. Total Learning Hours includes the time you spend in class (lectures, tutorials, practical elements) and the time you spend completing work outside of college. The balance between these two varies by discipline, and by level of study. You should bear in mind that the workload will increase at particular times e.g. when assignments are due.

Please note that the exams for this course will be part continuous assessment and part final project. The final assignment is an industry project written report in lieu of a formal written exam
