2nd, 3rd & 4th Year Undergraduate Applicants (Advanced Entry)
Please read carefully before submitting your Application Form.
Students can apply to TUS to transfer into 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of any Undergraduate course. Those interested should apply directly to the TUS Midwest Admissions Office.
**Notice** – Social Care Work programmes at TUS Mid West campuses will not be offering advanced entry, recognition of prior learning, or transfer to applicants.

Progression Opportunities
Add-On courses are a continuation course from Higher Certificate (Level 6) to Ordinary Degree (Level 7) to Honours Degree (Level 8). These courses are linked to certain undergraduate courses within the Institute. Those interested should apply directly to TUS by using the link above. The closing dates are as follows: 20th May, 2023 (External Applicants), and 31st May, 2023 (Internal Applicants).
Entry Requirements
Progression Opportunities (Level 7)
1. A Higher Certificate (Level 6) in a cognate field,
OR
2. An equivalent qualification to a Higher Certificate (Level 6) with appropriate prerequisite subjects.
Progression Opportunities (Level 8)
1. A pass in a relevant Ordinary Degree (Level 7) in a cognate field with an overall average
performance of at least *40%. [*Except in the case of students who are progressing from the B.Sc. in Applied Biology (Level 7) or a cognate Level 7 programme, an overall average of 50% is required for application to the B.Sc. (Hons) in Bioanalysis & Biotechnology.]
OR
2. An equivalent qualification to an Ordinary Degree (Level 7) with
appropriate prerequisite subjects,
OR
3. A pass in a relevant Ordinary Degree (Level 7) with one
year’s suitable and relevant work experience.
Is there anything I need to attach to the completed application form?
- A Transcript of your Higher Education Exam Results to date
- A copy of the Approved Course Schedule(s) (detailed syllabus) on which those results are based – showing details of subjects studied, credits awarded per subject, etc.
- Where documentation is not in English/Irish, notarized translations should be provided.
In the absence of appropriate supporting documentation it will not be possible to process the application.
Completed Undergraduate Advanced Entry Applications should be returned to the address above on or before May 20th 2023
How to accept an offer for advanced entry (year 2, 3, 4)
Adjudication of applications for years 2, 3, 4, etc. cannot take place until Higher Education exam results become available to us. First round offers are issued in June. If all first round offers are not taken up, there may be subsequent rounds of offers in August/September.
What must I do to accept an offer?
If you receive an offer, you must return the acceptance slip to the Admissions Office by the date specified. You must follow these instructions carefully. If you fail to respond to an offer correctly or on time, the offer will lapse and the place may be offered to the next person on the waiting list.
What if I miss a response deadline?
If you do not respond formally accepting an offer before the notified deadline the offer will lapse. Usually there is a waiting list for each course and, when an acceptance does not arrive on time, the place may already have been offered to someone on the waiting list. In this case it will no longer be available to the original offeree.
That being said, we may, at our own absolute discretion, accept late responses. Please contact the Admissions Office if you miss the deadline. But be warned, missing an acceptance deadline may mean you miss out on a place in college.
What if I want to defer?
The main thing is to act quickly, as soon as you receive the offer.
You must apply in writing or e-mail to the Admissions Officer, phone application are not accepted. Click here for information on deferral.
What should I do if I accept an offer and then change my mind?
If you change your mind because you have an alternative offer, or wish to take up employment, you can apply to defer entering college until the next year.
If you have simply changed your mind about going to college, then you should notify the college that you do not, after all, plan to attend. This will enable the college to offer that place to someone else on the waiting list. In any case, whether you notify the college or not, if you fail to register as instructed, you will be deemed to have lost interest and the place may be offered to someone else.
Once I’ve submitted a formal acceptance, what next?
If you have applied for a student support grant, you should inform the grant authority which course you have accepted. This will enable them to complete the processing of your grant application. See the student finance website for more information.
You should also consider organising your accommodation at this time.
Registration
You may not attend class until you have formally registered. You will be issued with a Registration details by TUS in July. You should follow the instructions carefully in order to complete your online registration by the deadline specified.
There are alternative dates for those who get late offers or who are awaiting the results of repeat exams.
