This unit enables the candidate to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully machine by Computer Numerical Control (CNC).
This programme is focused on programming 3-axis CNC milling and 2-axis lathe work. It includes part-programming, preparation of the machine, selection and the preparing of the required methods of work holding, the selection and the correct mounting of tooling. It also covers the operations required and safe working practices to complete the machining operations.
Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
Good level of computing skills.
Industry experience is desirable but not essential.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Applicants who do not have English as their first language must ensure they satisfy English Language requirements. For entry to undergraduate courses, a score of 5.5 in an IELTS or equivalent exam is required. For postgraduate courses, a score of 6.0 in an IELTS or equivalent exam is required. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their English proficiency meets these requirements.
At the end of this course the learner will be able to:

Transcript of the result achieved will be issued by City and Guilds (City & Guilds Award 2850-326).
€1,000 tuition fees, payable directly to TUS upon registration. Additional City and Guilds Assessment fees and registration fee will also apply. These fees will be collected by the exams office during the course of the programme.
