The purpose of this unit is to enable learners to develop an understanding of modern CAM and CNC machining systems, the importance of information links between CAD product data and manufacturing data, the role of process planning in manufacturing and the types of process planning available. This programme covers CNC machining using CAM technologies in areas such as 2.5D Milling including trochoidal milling, 3D roughing, 3D surface machining, 5-axis milling turning and mill/turn.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Applicants who do not have English as their first language must ensure they satisfy English Language requirements. For entry to undergraduate courses, a minimum score of 5.5 in an IELTS exam is required. For postgraduate courses, a minimum of 6.0 is required. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their English proficiency meets these requirements.
At the end of this module the learner will understand:
Tuesday evenings from 7.00pm to 10.00pm.
A transcript of the result achieved will be issued by the awarding body City and Guilds (City & Guilds Award 9209-433).
€1,000 payable directly to TUS upon registration. Additional City and Guilds Assessment fees and registration fee will also apply. These fees will be collected by the exams office during the course of the programme.
